The Jewel of the 2nd District
 | On November 17, 1911, four young men; three students attending Howard University, in Washington, D.C. and one faculty advisor, chartered Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. Eighty-five years later it has become one the largest Black male organizations in the world, with well over 125,000 members in 700 chapters in the United States and abroad. Throughout its history, the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity has a dramatic impact, as well as has been impacted by its members--many of whom rank among the most important figures in American and World history. Consequently, it is within the various chapters that comprise the organization that the work of Omega is carried out, and the positive impact it has upon society is affected. It is for this reason that the true history of this organization is carried out as a compilation of the various chapter histories that exists. Moreover, it is for this reason that the Gamma Pi Chapter of Prince George's County offer its meager attributes to the building of this magnificent edifice; the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. |
